Bill Keller says he met with
Dean Baquet (left) shortly after he was fired from the Los Angeles Times and made it known he wanted him to return to New York. Keller says "it is too early to speculate [about his position] because I don't know if he is coming."
Joe Strupp says rumors have included the ex-LAT editor taking over the Times' Washington, D.C. bureau, becoming a managing editor or working some yet-to-be-created assignment.
