The Washington Post was so eager for Anne Kornblut's expertise that it organized a welcome party just minutes after the farewell party thrown by her New York Times Washington bureau colleagues last Friday night, reports Keach Hagey. The next day she cleaned out her desk at the Times' DC bureau and drove over to the Post to start work. She says she originally "planned to take at least the weekend off."
