SFC has legal right to air reader gripes in podcasts, but...

Poynter Online's Meg Martin and Pat Walters checked out California's wire tapping laws and found nothing to indicate it might be illegal to broadcast a legally obtained recording, as the San Francisco Chronicle does with its "Correct Me if I'm Wrong..." podcast. "But the more important question, I think, is not whether this practice is legal, but whether it is ethical," writes Walters. "In certain ways, this podcast works. It clearly attracts readers. ... But what does it actually do to further the mission of the newspaper?"
