The old JOA said the Seattle Times couldn't change the Post-Intelligencer to a tabloid without Hearst's permission. The new JOA also includes that prohibition, but adds that "Hearst may at its discretion choose to move the P-I to a tabloid format." P-I publisher
Roger Oglesby says such a change "has been discussed at the P-I quite a bit over the past few years." PLUS: Did Seattle Times settle because it knew P-I owner Hearst had a "smoking gun"?
