Minneapolis Star Tribune (last letter)
Former Star Tribune editor
Tim McGuire once believed Minneapolis-St Paul was "the best, most sophisticated, highest-integrity newspaper market in America." The Strib and Pioneer Press competed with dignity and passion, he writes in a letter to the editor. "That once-proud competitive landscape has become a
detestable muck I abhor" and both papers owe their staffs and readers an immediate solution. "In a time when newspapers are under a dramatic market assault, both newspapers will be irreparably weakened by a long, public romp in the sewer of accusations and counter-accusations."
