Richard Ramhoff tells readers that his paper's goal in
publishing a salary database for Michigan state government employees "was not to hurt feelings and we didn't do a good job explaining our intent." He says the paper's lead on the salaries story -- "Ever wonder how much state employees are paid?" -- wasn't "the right way to start this discussion."
