Carol Marin says nobody comes out of the
Amy Jacobson saga well, including the CBS station, "which could have run their story right away rather than waiting several days, preferring to let newspapers break the existence of the tape so that the station could then justify running it. What a bunch of false piety that was." Marin hopes Jacobson lands on her feet, "but if what happened to her makes us in our various newsrooms re-examine our own hot pursuit of scoops, we may also owe her a bit of thanks." || Related columns by
