When he was 16,
Ken Rodriguez was told by a Career Day adviser to avoid journalism because reporters make less than teachers. He ignored her. "Sports writing proved more fulfilling and adventurous than I had imagined," writes Rodriguez. "The pay became far better, too. That's one reason I agreed to speak at Bracken Christian [Career Day]. I wanted to help fuel a dream -- not douse one."
