The position has been vacant since Richard Siklos resigned last summer. Tim Arango, who worked at the New York Post before joining Fortune, apparently wasn't Times business editor Larry Ingrassia's first choice for the job, reports John Koblin. He hears Ingrassia talked to four Wall Street Journal reporters -- Kate Kelly, Merissa Marr, Sarah Ellison and Matthew Karnitschnig -- but they all decided to stay at the Journal.
