Dan Rather talked to several lawyers about the prospect of suing CBS, and recalls what he was told: "The likelihood is this will be long and it will be really tough -- tougher than you imagine." His wife told a friend she wished Dan wouldn't fight this battle and would start enjoying retirement, reports
Joe Hagan. Rather tells him: "Look, I don't want to be some Don Quixote out here tilting at windmills, without even a Sancho. I think when people hear what I was told and what I was not told by CBS executives concerning the Guard story, that they'll understand."
