Voter registration deputy Will Statom was charged with battery after attacking Muncie Star Press reporter Nick Werner following a contentious election board meeting. Congressional candidate Barry A. Welsh (left) stepped in to break up the fight and was slugged in the eye by the registation deputy. Werner says Statom made a sarcastic remark about his reporting while he was trying to do an interview. The reporter then told the Republican appointee to "shut up," and the fight began.
