The shares of a dozen publicly held newspaper companies dived an average of 35.7% in 2007, while the average compensation of the CEOs fell by a more moderate 11.7%, reports Alan Mutter. But... Belo's Robert Dercherd was given a 77.8% raise in spite of a 5.1% dip in his company's shares. Lee Enterprises CEO Mary E. Junck pocketed a 17.8% increase as her company's stock skidded 52.3%.
