University of Wisconsin-Whitewater sportswriter Michael Daly says of the apology that followed the flap over his "Spoiled Athletes" column: "I hope this is a step in a battle I've had to fight before, and that is getting some people within our administration to understand that campus newspapers are not PR. They are there so people can learn to be reporters and writers."
