"There was plenty of experimentation," says Knight Foundation head and ex-Miami Herald publisher Alberto Ibarguen. "Knight Ridder was roundly criticized for losing millions trying to develop its web pages. Of course, all of us who came from the old media had conceptual constraints. We tried to simply go from one medium to another, without realizing that when you make a movie and you're faithful to the book, you usually make a dull movie."
