NYTimes.com When you write about a broad range of topics, you're more likely to say something silly, notes
Nick Kristof. He feels comfortable writing about China or North Korea, "but when I write about new topics, I try to work very hard to vet my sources and information, and there still should be a 'student driver' sign over my column!" The Times columnist also says:
* "I have almost no impact when I write about a topic that people already have thought about."
* "I'm easily bored, and that's probably the main reason I flit around from topic to topic."
* "I get almost none of my news from television; but I do wake up to NPR."
