Leila Fadel, who is on special assignment in Baghdad for Knight Ridder Newspapers, was in the Hamra Hotel when it was attacked. "I fled to the alcove next to the door and waited -- another blast, the hotel shook, and our windows were blown out along with pieces of the wall. Then gunfire. I thought they had gotten into the complex and the full-on attack that Paul, our security guard, warns about was finally happening."
