Knight Ridder spokesman
Polk Laffoon IV says journalists hold relatively few KR shares and that institutional investors who own most stock "are not going to vote for a slate of former Knight Ridder employees whose dominant priority is the creation of good journalism." He adds: "I wish it were otherwise. I wish there were an identifiable and strong correlation between quality journalism as we all define it and strong and growing newspaper sales."
