The Baghdad Press Club was created by the U.S. military, but members are "are not required nor asked to write favorably [about the U.S.]," says Lt. Col.
Robert Whetstone. He declines to say how much the U.S. military pays the club, but notes the budget includes "basic journalism equipment, interpreters, assistant director, office employee, board members and reporter compensation."
