Brian Chase says he wrote on
Wikipedia that
John Seigenthaler Sr. had been involved in the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy. He's told the former editor of The Tennessean that he thought Wikipedia was a "gag" website and that he had written the assassination tale to shock a co-worker. "I am truly sorry to have offended you, sir," Chase says in a letter to the newsman. "Whatever fame comes to me from this will be ill-gotten indeed."

"Of course I accept the apology," says Seigenthaler, but it doesn't lessen my frustration that anybody can put anything on Wikipedia."
