Newsday's tentative agreement on contracts with six bargaining units opens the door for the Tribune-owned paper to eliminate 60 additional jobs by spring, but provide lump-sum payments and modest raises, reports
Mark Harrington. The staff cuts, primarily of drivers and pressmen, would be substantially fewer than the 165 jobs that Tribune initially said it wanted to eliminate.
