* "There is a full-scale assault by the federal government now on journalists in order to get at people who disclose classified information." (Miller)
* "Newsrooms are rough playgrounds. There's a lot of envy. People are competitive." (Miller)
* "There's a collapse in the public's faith in American institutions. The media has done a poor job. We've become as insular and self-regarding as any [other institution]." (Brooks)
* Media professionals are part of a "highly affluent, highly educated cultural ghetto" that's out of sync with large parts of the country. (Brooks)
