The Times reported on March 11 that
Ali Shalal Qaissi was the hooded Abu Ghraib prisoner shown standing on a box with electrical wires attached to his outstretched arms. The paper now
says it was wrong. "The Times did not adequately research Mr. Qaissi's insistence that he was the man in the photograph," says an editors' note.
