Frank Deford says newspapers need to respond to the Internet the way they did when radio and television started covering sports -- by giving sports fans even more coverage. "Look at the sports pages of the 1930s and '40s,'' he says. ''It was all games, basic stuff. Not nearly as much behind the scenes. … I think newspapers, the ones that survive, will be the clever and bright ones." (Related Express-Times
