HOUSTON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The former lawyer for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Galveston-Houston said he has not seen any change in how the church deals with sexual abuse victims.
Robert P. Scamardo defended the diocese against sexual abuse lawsuits where he "vigorously resisted accusers."
In an interview with the New York Times in Houston, Scamardo said church lawyers worked to deter lawsuits, minimize the church's payouts, limit coverage for therapy and keep settlements secret.
