  • A scan through today's inaugural coverage in print shows that the strongest front pages made darned good use of documentary photography -– giving the reader a perspective that they couldn't see elsewhere, capturing candid moments between Barack and Michelle Obama, focusing on details and emphasizing the scale of the crowd.

Other nice surprises include a commissioned portrait of President Obama, a detailed look at his signature and nice integration of quotes from his speech in a conceptual design.

We talked about this and more during a chat with Steve Dorsey, deputy managing editor of the Detroit Free Press, Matt Mansfield, Denise Regan and others. Just scroll down below the front pages and click on the button to view the archived chat.
