Excerpt:
Some people who don't believe the news they see about the war in Iraq might try another channel or newspaper.
Not Dahr Jamail.
No,
Jamail packed his bags, left his life as a mountain guide in Anchorage,
Alaska, and headed to Iraq to write the news himself.
Kelly McBride, who organizes ethics programs for the Poynter Institute, which teaches journalists, said readers who consume multiple sources of information are better able to compare and contrast each and make their own judgments about those sources.
"Part of the value is it's different," McBride said of Jamail's work. "It's a different approach to journalism, and that's good."
