Q. This week, I was offered an internship with a newspaper beginning 11 months from now. I plan to continue searching for a summer internship that would precede it.

Keeping Things Straight

A. It is OK to claim experiences that you have commitments for but have not yet experienced.

Think of how people list degrees that they are working toward but have not yet obtained. They usually state the date by which they expect to graduate.

Just be careful to get the dates right, and be clear.
