Welcome to the future of journalism.

This is the homepage of the 2008 (June 8 - July 18) Poynter Summer Fellowship for Young Journalists. It is the oldest and biggest program at The Poynter Institute. Every year we invite young journalists, most of whom are just out of college, on the cusp of their brilliant careers, to spend six weeks at Poynter. Past summer fellows have described it as journalism boot camp.

Or finishing school.

Or a graduate degree in six weeks.

It's intense. We spend our time in a seminar room learning from journalists at the top of their game. And we spend our time in the neighborhoods of south St. Petersburg, Fla., looking for stories.

Sixteen writers, eight photographers and eight designers made up our class of 2007. You can see the projects that they produced during their six weeks at Poynter right here.

Check it out. Get to know them. Maybe you'll want to be one of them.
