Take a shot at better video

Two Web sites for those working in video or multimedia:

  • Current.tv's training section is like video bootcamp, writes Poynter colleague Phil Zepeda in the NewsU blog, Access. “You'll get production and shooting tips, guidelines for creating Web video, a rundown on essential gear and much more. You'll find lots of helpful info here, whether you're a beginner or not. Best of all, they do a great job with the presentation. You'll find everything in a nice Flash package that is cleanly designed, easy to navigate and full of interactivity.”
  • "My go-to site for training is http://www.multimediashooter.com/," Jennifer Dronkers, also of the NewsU crew, writes in the same blog. “There are tutorials, conversations about gear, blogs, inspirational stories and notable multimedia projects. The site is not going to turn amateurs into multimedia aficionados overnight. But it’s a great starting point forthose who have questions as well as for multimedia journalists who want to know ‘what else.’ The site's motto: ‘Keeping track of multimedia, so you don’t have to….’”
