Media Companies Missing Boat on .info

What's the point of having a .info domain if all the .com sites are going to register corresponding .info domains? We don't get anything new here, we simply add to the clutter. What happens when there are fifty top level domains - will nypost.com (or whatever) lay claim to each and every one of them? No doubt they'd want to be the ownbers of, say, nypost.sucks. Or perhaps the logic goes the other way: do away with top level domains altogether, because we're not going to get any useful multiplicity of sites, at least not while companies lay claim to *any* use of a particular string of characters.
