I haven't seen the movie, but I can't wait (I'm being sarcastic) until publishers figure out how to employ
Digital Rights Management on inventions like this. Example: A digital paper is designed to be read
only by the subscriber, not shared with a friend. The "screen" blanks out if you hand it to someone
else without your retinal scan. Print it out? Nope, can't do that because you might
show it to someone who hasn't paid to read it. Besides, we might want to rewrite history sometime
in the future so there's no way we're going to let you have a totally permanent regular paper copy.

By the way, some of my cynical thinking along these lines is inspired by what the recording industry
is trying to do with copyright management these days to curtail "fair use."

While we're talking movies...

"Minority Report," set in the future, features newspapers with "digital ink"-ish technology. There's a scene where a headline changes right before a newspaper reader's eyes. Very cool.
