I am amazed on how close this analysis is to what my independent research shows. This study is on the MARK! I have been researching the online content arena for the DOC for over 3 years now.

We have been working on a similar study, but are not even close to being able to publish it. I assume the OPA has been working on this for at least 2-3 years for the amount of insight they have.

BTW... Who is Comscore?

Stephen Downes makes a point worth consideration. However, the distinction may be one of
semantics. I wouldn't let that confine my parameters when trying to create paid offerings that might
generate a profit. Regardless of how you classify them, there are certain types of content, services,
and content/service blends that are generating fees.

Content or Services

A good chunk of the material covered in this survey - games, for example, or online dating - is not content at all, but rtaher, services. By conflating the two the report suggests that more people are paying for content when in fact they are paying for something else entirely.
