Being Paid to Blog: What a Concept!

Oh, that Amazon.com plugin!

Nick Denton says: "All I know is that weblogs are a compelling form, gadget addicts are all online, and it's easy to plug into Amazon's electronics store."

Which gets us to that old question of editorial integrity. Will Gizmodo have any? Will people trust it as a source of unbiased information when everything's for sale?

Conflict of interest note: We run something very similar to Gizmodo. And the guy who writes it gets paid (although it's only a small part of his job). And, yes, we plugged into Amazon.com for a Christmas gift guide last year.

The secone one?

Firstly, if this is what Nick has been hatching for the last few months in Manhattan, I am disappointed. Perhaps the site is looking for some ad/e-commerce revenues when companies tie-up with this weblog, but it is not original, for sure. And Pete Rojas is the first paid blogger after Romenesko? Ahem, but wouldn't that be one Mr. Steve Outing?

If vertical weblogs is the idea, have a look at Corante..the best vertical weblog company, perhaps the only one there is.
