Cooperation in Canada

At the risk of being self-serving: two of the longer-running media 'co-opetition' experiments are www.toronto.com and www.workopolis.com. The former began in 1998 between The Toronto Star and Bell Canada's Yellow Pages; the latter in 2000 between The Star and The Globe and Mail. Since then, Bell Globemedia was formed, bringing the telecommunications company's media assets together with The Globe & the CTV television network, leaving two of Canada's biggest media companies 50-50 equity partners in the country's top online city guide and its biggest job site. Direct print competitors cooperating in the interactive space. (OK, I guess I am being self-serving, since I was there for the birth of both!)
