A better solution

"The investment community needs to throw some money at Blogger." Wrong century, wrong answer. Here's a radical idea: charge the people who use the service a fee. I know nothing of Blogger's technical infrastructure and thus its costs, but if there are thousands of users willing to pay for the convenience of using Blogger's service, even a modest fee ($10 or $20 a year) could go a very long way towards paying the costs of running the service. Sure, some people won't pay, but that will only ease the apparent strains on their systems. It might be tough, but rather than sucking up to VCs (who aren't in a particularly charitable state of mind these days regarding online ventures that give away their services for free), have Blogger pay its own way and maintain its independence as well. Like any small business, Blogger must put appropriate prices on its services if it is to succeed. Amazingly, this is still a radical concept to some.
