I used to be the Webmaster of CNET India before they shut it down. In the extremely restrictive corporate style guide, we were told to always use CNET.com to refer to the company. Yes, it used to be "c|net", but now they've ditched the pipe. Lots of people still use it when referring to them, however.

I do understand the confusion regarding the CNET logo and the CNET name, but... would you really ask that CNET change its logo after nearly eight years?

The company is CNET Networks. The brand with the red ball logo is CNET.

Several years ago, the company was c|net. Then, it changed to CNet, because of all the confusion caused by the pipe character. Then it was changed to CNET.
