Bill Sammon named Senior White House Correspondent for the Washington Examiner

Veteran journalist and Fox News Channel political analyst named to new post at the Washington Examiner

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Examiner announced today creation of a national news position - Senior White House Correspondent - and filled it with award-winning journalist Bill Sammon.

Sammon has been the Senior White House Correspondent for the Washington Times since 1998, and in that role has traveled extensively throughout the country and abroad with the President and other White House officials. He was with the President on "9-11" affording him an exceptional window into this nation' s sudden transformation into a society dealing with terrorism.

Before being assigned to the White House, Sammon served as the national investigative reporter for the Times. He also traveled overseas for several years, reporting on the civil war in Bosnia and critical events in the Middle East for Stars and Stripes. ...

As Senior White House correspondent for the Washington Examiner, Sammon will be covering the President and his cabinet and reporting on national politics from the White House. Many of his reports will also be carried by the San Francisco Examiner and the Baltimore Examiner- which is scheduled to launch in April.

In addition to his journalism work, Sammon is a political analyst for the Fox News Channel, a frequent guest on numerous national television news shows and also an author of four books on national politics and the presidency.

Sammon began his career in 1982 at the News-Herald in suburban Cleveland after graduating from Miami University. He also worked as a reporter for the Plain Dealer where his award-winning stories on voter fraud and government corruption kicked off federal and state investigations that resulted in numerous criminal convictions. Sammon was also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his investigative reporting for
the Washington Times about illegal fundraising by the Teamsters union.
