Title: A campaign to get rid of King?
Posted By: Jim Romenesko

From DAVID COHEN: I'll confess that it has been a long while since I watched Larry King, but the stories in the Wall Street Journal and in Nikki Finke's blog emit the smell of an astroturf campaign to eliminate King from the CNN lineup. The stories all note that King is still CNN's highest-rated program and that losing it would create "problems" for CNN Chief Jon Klein. But as one who has spent his adult life either working in television news or being paid to analyze the comings and goings, it appears -- somewhat obviously -- that the CNN chiefs are seeding the rumor mills in preparation of dumping King and putting someone more demographically acceptable into the time slot. It would play to the ongoing CNN movement to lower the age of its on-air staff. And, it reminds me of the chattering that occurred before Aaron Brown departed the network. [Permalink]
