Title: Brock to deal with public at NYT
Posted By: Jim Romenesko

Subject: Message from Craig Whitney -- Senior Editor announcement

Greg Brock of the Washington Bureau will come back to New York to replace Bill Borders as Senior Editor in the front lines of the newsroom's dealings with the public, taking incoming compliments and complaints and coordinating corrections with desks across the paper and with the Standards Editor. Greg has been getting practice for this new job during the past four years as News Editor in the Washington Bureau. A graduate of Ole Miss who grew up in Mississippi, Greg came to the National copy desk from The Washington Post in 1995 and, after a brief interlude with The Louisville Courier-Journal, returned to work on the Foreign Desk before going off to Washington. Earlier, he worked for The Charlotte Observer and The San Francisco Examiner, and he was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard in the class of 1994. Greg will take up his new duties as soon as Phil Taubman can spare him, freeing Bill to take his hard-earned retirement.
