WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 14TH ANNUAL JAMES BEARD FOUNDATION JOURNALISM AWARDS

New York - May 7, 2006 - Winners were announced this evening in 16 categories for the annual James Beard Foundation Journalism Awards, the highest honors for food and beverage writers. The Journalism Awards, presented solely by the James Beard Foundation, recognize excellence in food and beverage journalism for articles published in 2005, in the United States and Canada.

Judges for the Journalism Awards include journalism professors from top universities, veteran journalists and editors (not covering the topics of food or beverage), and former food and wine writers, and editors. According to Journalism Awards Committee Chair Joe Crea (food and restaurants editor for The Plain Dealer, Cleveland), over 550 submissions were received for consideration.
