From TERRY KROEGER, Omaha World-Herald publisher: Relative to your note on Sunday, I had read Mark Zieman's column in the Kansas City Star and was struck at how his experience has paralleled mine and I imagined how much his readers probably appreciated hearing from him.

I exchanged e-mails with Mr. Zieman and told him I was thinking about writing one myself and asked him if he would mind if I used some of his ideas. He said he didn't mind at all, wished me well with the column and with our business. Thus a few of them made it into my column, although I would note there are some meaningful differences between the two.

Looking at it today, I wish I had mentioned Mr. Zieman's column as a point of reference, but I didn't.

I was indeed focused on the message for our readers, many of whom have reacted very positively to this column.

I apologize if this communication with our readership caused any angst ... that was certainly not my intent. [Permalink]
