Title: NYT buried lead?
Posted By: Jim Romenesko

From BONNIE BRITT:
Re: Are media to blame? On March 11, the NYT ran the results of an NYT-CBS news poll of 1,010 people, claiming that the majority of U.S. citizens back an
invasion of Iraq.

The very last sentence in the 1400-word story announces that "The poll found that 45 percent of Americans said Mr. Hussein was 'personally involved' in the attacks, a number essentially unchanged from a month ago."

This is an example of burying the lead. It is also evidence of the astounding failure of U.S. news sources to convey fact.
