How to find opportunities in journalism, determine your next steps

In this week’s career chat, we talked with Jim O’Brien, director of career services at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

O’Brien talked about how he advises students to cope with the changing job market. He talked about some of the various companies that are looking to recruit journalists — including Patch, Google, Ford and US Cellular — and offered journalism career advice for students and professionals who are trying to find new opportunities at traditional news outlets and at startups.

You can replay the chat to see what he had to say.
