Just as word was settling in about reductions in copy editing at The Denver Post, the Contra Costa Times and Canada’s Postmedia, 84 young copy editors were undergoing training as part of the Dow Jones News Fund.
The fund is the nation’s largest training program for copy editors.
During this week’s career chat, we heard from two of the Dow Jones interns — Amy Schellenbaum, an intern at The New York Times, and Sean Blue, an intern at the Cape Cod Times. They shared their perspectives on editing and offered tips on how they’ve gone about pursuing a career in journalism.
