The newspaper business model of the future will focus on mobile, customization and e-commerce, according to Sly Bailey, CEO of Trinity Mirror, Britain’s biggest newspaper publisher.
Bailey describes the strategy as ” ‘The Three Ps’ of portability, personalization and payment mechanisms, which she said ‘will allow us to build a sustainable business that is not solely reliant on advertising.’ “
Given those choices, I might replace “portability” with “place,” but the meaning is the same: providing content to consumers where and when they want it, and likely within a geographic context further filtered by individual preferences.
