The Daily, Murdoch’s iPad publication, may land next week

Forbes
Jeff Bercovici reports that Rupert Murdoch’s iPad newspaper, The Daily, may launch on Jan. 19. He writes:

“The debut can’t come soon enough for The Daily’s staffers, who for weeks have been engaged in full-scale dry runs, cranking out dummy issues for what I’ve been told is a distribution list of 1,000 privileged readers.”

The publication’s website, TheDaily.com, which was blank last week, now features a new logo and a “coming soon” promise.

News Corp. has reportedly hired 100 journalists on an overall budget of $30 million. Once launched, each edition of the tablet-only newspaper is expected to cost $0.99.
