NPR ombudsman working social media to keep up with listener reaction to Juan Williams’ firing
NPR Ombud Alicia Shepard is reaching out to listeners on the Web, Facebook and Twitter to manage what apparently is a flood of feedback following the network’s firing of news analyst Juan Williams.
Williams’ contract with NPR was terminated after remarks he made on Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday. The firing has been a focus of online discussion today.
Shepard has been active on Twitter and Facebook, posting links to coverage of the incident. And, this afternoon she suggested those social media channels might be a preferred means of listener feedback:
