Los Angeles Times closes Orange County printing plant

Publisher Eddy Hartenstein says the paper will generate “substantial savings” by consolidating its printing operations at one facility in downtown Los Angeles. To accommodate earlier deadlines necessitated by the plant’s closing, the Times will launch a LATExtra section to run late-breaking news that was previously published in individual sections.
