Alt-weekly publisher: Seasoned editors find it difficult to function in the new environment

Chicago Reader publisher Alison Draper says Alison True was fired after 16 years as editor because she wasn’t enough of a change-agent. (She was dismissed during a meeting at Starbucks after putting out one of the Reader’s fattest issues.) “You’ve got to be able to step out of the traditional silos and look at the business through different windows,” says the publisher.
