Sheriff’s gun records fight with Oregon newspaper costs county $43,500

The Mail Tribune, a Dow Jones paper in Medford, Ore., wanted the records to find out how many teachers in the area had permits to carry a concealed handgun. It fought for three years with the sheriff, who now has to pay the paper’s legal fees.
